Choi Sun
Blue marks, whose shapes are hard to discern, fill the canvas. This is Butterfly (2014~) by Choi Sun, who has been conducting the Breath Project since 2014, traveling through various countries and cities, capturing the breath of people from different ages, races, nationalities, and genders. Opposing the kind of art that is presented as something incomprehensible yet must be understood, the artist seeks out art that anyone can engage with and focuses on the "already artistic things" scattered around us. By dropping ink onto the canvas in front of the participants and blowing on it, the shapes created by the breath come together, shared as the simplest form of art, sparking conversation and connecting people.
