Goni
The figure, drawn with colored pencils in a swift and dynamic manner, flutters vigorously in the wind. The three figures in Wind People (2020) by Ko Ni wear expressions that are hard to readโwhether they are crying or laughingโyet they keep walking forward, step by step, tup, tup. If the figure in The Person Going with the Wind (2020), drawn at the same time, appears to be attempting to push through a storm, the figures in Wind People seem to embrace the storm with their entire bodies. As they walk, fully feeling the wind brushing against them, these figures do not appear as stubborn warriors resisting the wind, but rather as travelers on a journey of life, who acknowledge the inevitable trials, like the wind that blows, and quietly move forward toward the path they have chosen for themselves.
