Jo Hyun-sun

Jo hyun-sun presents Thumb Index series, which continuously reconstructs and reinterprets her previous work (2015). By regarding the earlier work as a "dictionary" and repeatedly engaging in the act of “revisiting,” the process fundamentally rejects finality. The artist chooses to produce new canvases and perpetually proliferate them, rather than simply layering over the previous ones, thereby shaking the hierarchy of the original work. Thumb Index pieces, which evolve so independently that the original is difficult to imagine, remain unfinished, yet fully embrace the viewer. They remind us that clear definitions and boundaries are nothing more than illusions.
