Kahee Jeong
Kahee Jeong (b. 1986), based in Berlin, Amsterdam, and Seoul, creates work that visualizes human cognitive processes, grounded in research spanning neuroscience, philosophy, and digital ecosystems. Using multimedia formats such as video, text, and installation, she explores psychological ruptures experienced by individuals struggling to adapt to rapidly changing societies, as well as emotional structures like “unwanted thoughts.” Her practice incorporates interdisciplinary collaboration, interviews, and diverse research methodologies to build both theoretical depth and sensory expression.
She has participated in artist residencies at the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten (Netherlands), and the MMCA Goyang Residency (South Korea). Her work has been exhibited internationally at venues, including Transmediale Vorspiel (Germany), Taipei Video Art Festival (Taiwan), the Philosophy Festival (Italy), and the Science Gallery (UK), among others.

"Memory is fragile—shaped and often distorted by our perceptions, emotions, and desires, and further altered by the passage of time. Since it is impossible to remember the past with complete accuracy, perhaps the true value of memory lies not in what is remembered precisely, but in the very fact that it is remembered.
But when the person who holds a memory is gone, the memory too can disappear. Kahee Jeong set out to preserve her grandmother’s memories—formed through experiences of Japanese colonial rule and the division of Korea—as a kind of heirloom. She used a portable EEG device to record her grandmother’s brainwaves and translated this data into a three-dimensional model.
Inspired by the ideas of archaeoacoustics—the belief that traces of sound might be embedded in rotating clay, carrying messages from the past—Jeong rendered the model in porcelain. The final object is not merely a recording or replica; it is a vessel imbued with presence. A silent relic of memory, it speaks in ways that language cannot."
